Hey there creative peeps! I was skimming through YouTube on which videos to put in the widget section of the site, when I came across this one from Vox.

Vox producer, Kim Mas and Cora Harrington, author, fashion expert, and researcher explain the facts about fast fashion. The price you pay and the actual cost…like labor, material, and environmental impact.

Carys and I have had discussions about fast fashion. Y’all heard of Temu and Shein? Well, they are mentioned in the video below. It’s not just Temu and Shein, but other brands online. We do overspend, over buy clothing that we really do not need.

Carys tends to follow a few influencers on Instagram and YouTube, and they do a fashion haul of what they buy. Now we both know that these influencers spend way too much on these fashion hauls on clothing they may or may not use or need. Remember these companies like Shein pay the influencers to do this stuff, but seriously, do we need to buy all this?

The answer is of course, no. Look at the video below.

Not even billionaires’ shop like this. Makes me think of Catherine, Princess of Wales. Remember she would repeat the same outfits? It was her way of promoting sustainability.

Carys has a pretty pink sundress she got from her mom. Her mom bought it at a thrift store twenty years ago for a good price. She doesn’t remember how much she paid for it…maybe around twenty she thinks. It’s still in good condition. I have a navy-blue Calvin Klein coat that has last me for over thirty years and it’s still in good condition. I bought it from TJ Maxx, and I think it was about over $100 or $150 dollars. I’m not parting ways with it anytime soon!

Is buy expensive better? Sometimes yes, but…. What do you think? If you have any comments, please feel free to do so.

I hope you enjoyed this creative close-up and that it taught you something about the effects of fast fashion.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday, be safe, healthy, happy, and blessed.
