Favorite Scary Film: When A Stranger Calls

10.17.18 Hey! Another favorite scary film of mine, When A Stranger Calls. I discovered this old gem when I saw Bravo’s 100 Scary Moments several years ago. After seeing that scary moment in the film, I was anxious to know more about it. I bought the DVD and I wasn’t disappointed.  A young high school student babysits for a very rich family. She begins to receive strange phone calls threatening the children. When she finally realises that it’s not a joke, she calls the police, only to find that the calls are coming from inside the house. Starring Carole Kane and directed by Fred Walton (who directed the short film, The Sitter, which this film is based on) those 20 minutes of the film gave me chills! I used to babysit and this film would’ve cut short my babysitting career immediately. In fact, according to Wikipedia (my best friend), the film received a bit of a cult following because of those 20 minutes, which made it the scariest openings in horror history.
