Catching Up on Fashion Week 2018

9.26.18 I love fashion, seriously…I love fashion. Just to take a peak at what these designers have before us gives me happiness. It’s been a minute since Shadowboxerinc has posted anything regarding fashion, but New York Fashion Week, London, Paris, Milan…it’s like I can’t catch up, but thank you FF Chanel on YouTube keeps me together.  Summer is over, but I see a few things that I would love to wear next summer…enjoy the rest of your Wednesday, be blessed. Creative Close-Up: Creating Art On My Terms

9.24.18 “You can draw…ohhh. Can you do a painting for me?” That’s probably what you get when you mention that you can draw, paint, sketch, you know what I mean. Then when you put a little bit of your work out there, they start to ask if you can do a portrait for them. I can draw, sketch, and paint. I love it because I’m such a creative person and while I’m flattered for people to ask, I just don’t too much like it.  Why? Well, I ask, how big do want the portrait or drawing to be? What do you want it to look like? All these kinds of questions, the ones I hate to ask because I don’t want to step on any toes to hurt feelings. I did accept one from a lady at my church, but this will be the last one for a very long while.   I want to create art on my own terms, without the person asking me about the progress, you know, without nosing in on my …

Books to Read for Fall 2018

9. 20. 18 September 22, this Saturday will be the first day of Fall. Temperatures are starting to get a little cooler, well in some places, and it’s time to find some new books to read. Found this article titled The Top 20 Most Anticipated Books of Fall 2018, written by Ashley Johnson for Parade and there a few books I want to get. Take a look at this list of those books that are getting some attention. Credit source: Ashley Johnson for Parade  As the season begins to change and the temperatures cool down, a new season of books comes with it. From dark and magical YA novels to sweet romance and everything in between, these are the most anticipated books of fall. The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle Sabrina’s 30th birthday is surely cause for celebration in this new novel. Surrounded by her best friend, a few people from her past and, surprisingly, Audrey Hepburn, Sabrina is unsure of what to think of this seemingly magical dinner. As the six begin to mingle, they’ll …

Shadow Spotlight: Diane Arbus

9. 17. 18 Shadow Spotlight time. From September till December Shadowboxerinc is featuring photographers who are making their mark. Diane Arbus is this month’s Shadow Spotlight. The name should be familiar to you. She was known for her photography works of giants, dwarfs, transgender people, nudists, circus performers. Or as a Wikipedia article of Arbus states, “whose normality was perceived by the general populace as ugly or surreal. Her work has been described as consisting of formal manipulation characterized by blatant sensationalism.   I found a few videos of Arbus. One titled Masters of Photography, which was several years ago, when they interviewed her daughter Doon Arbus.    Here is another one by Art of Photography which came out in 2013.       I hope this gave an insight into who this woman was and what her work represents. Enjoy your Monday, be blessed.    Images source: Medium Diane Arbus in Central Park. Photo: Tod Papageorge, 1967.
