The weekend is here and I have a few posts to share with you. First, the National Convention for National Art Education Association will take place March 22 – 24, 2018. The National Art Education Association is the leading professional membership organization exclusively for visual arts educators. Here are the details for this event….

The NAEA National Convention is an annual event providing substantive professional development services that include the advancement of knowledge in all sessions, events, and activities for the purpose of improving visual arts instruction in American schools. As such, it is the world’s largest art education convention.

The three-day Convention includes over 1,000 participatory workshops, panels, seminars for job-alike groups…research reports, discussions, exhibits, and tours…keynote addresses by world-acclaimed educators, artists, researchers, and scholars…with the opportunity to connect with your colleagues from all over the world….

The 2018 NAEA National Convention will be held March 22-24 in Seattle, Washington at the Washington State Convention Center and Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

Happy Friday everyone! Let’s take a look northwest to the Seattle Art Museum or SAM for our Summer Edition for At the Museum. Located in the middle of Olympic Sculpture Park, SAM is one museum you don’t want to skip. It has a lot of fun stuff, maybe too many to put on this post! I’ll just list what they got to offer for everybody…..

  • SAM Remix: Art making, talks, dancing….
  • School Tours & Workshops: Guided tours & of course workshops
  • Teen Nigh Out: Teen-only event w/art, live music….
  • Family Workshops: Create sculptures, paintings at SAM galleries
  • Public Programs: Tours, talks, films
  • Schools & Educators: Outreach programs & art workshops
  • Families: Kids can enjoy family festivals, activities
  • Libraries & Resources: You can learn art by digging into SAM visual resources. Gather art questions through reading, visual, or audio. Whatever you need to know in art, the SAM library has it!
  • Teens: Workshops, Teen Arts Groups (TAG) January-June, Teen Night Out, Teen Resources
  • Community Part: This is where you can participate through outreach efforts, partnerships, even the community.
