Credit source: artshow.com Lacawac Artists’ Residencies 2019 Lacawac Sanctuary and Field Station is a nature preserve, biological field station, and environmental education center located near Lake Ariel, PA in the Pocono Mountains. Each year professional or aspiring artists are selected to spend time at Lacawac Sanctuary for either one or two weeks. During the residencies, artists are free to produce their artwork using the inspiration of the beauty that is Lacawac. Housing and limited studio space are provided. Artists are provided: a comfortable, rustic room in the Historic Watres Lodge or the Ice House; access to 545 acres which includes a glacial lake, 2 ponds, shore access to Lake Wallenpaupack, ledges natural area, and forests; interaction with scientists conducting research at Lacawac (May thru early August). $10 application fee. 4.3.19 Hey again! The last post for today and I’m pretty excited about this one. May 25, 1979…a new sci-fi, horror film was released. Alien has been a favorite of mine for a long time and now it’s the film’s 40th Anniversary. IGN, the video game, and entertainment media site has something to share with us… Credit source: IGN Alien 40th Anniversary Short Film: “Containment” To celebrate Alien’s 40th anniversary and in partnership with Tongal, 20th Century Fox is releasing new Alien-universe fan-made short films leading up to Alien Day on April 26th. Written and directed by Chris Reading, the synopsis for “Containment” reads: “Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship’s destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected.”   This is just the first of six short films.
