Film Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

May 16 / 17 It’s been awhile for a film review, but I’ve been waiting to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel has shoveled film after film, sticking to the Second Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and Vin Diesel have returned to pick up where the Guardians left off. Vol. 2 follows the Guardians as they are hired by the Sovereign, a powerful alien, but rather stuck up race of beings, to protect their batteries from invaders. That goes south when Rocket steals those very same batteries. While the Sovereign are busy plotting revenge, the gang gets sidetracked when Peter Quill’s father shows up. Kirk Russell is Ego, who is some sort of Celestia being. Mantis, played by Pom Klementieff, who has empathic abilties and is raised by Ego, is a newcomer to the gang. He invites them to his home planet so he can get to know his son better, but things aren’t always what they seem….James Gunn is …
