Creative Close-Up: Ethnic Diversity in Entertainment

8. 27. 18 Two major films have dominated the box office. Black Panther, which became a massive hit, grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, breaking numerous box office records including the highest-grossing film by a black director and may I add was the second highest grossing film of 2018 behind Avengers: Infinity War. Then just recently, Crazy Rich Asians top the box office, which grossed $83 million worldwide. I’ve touched on this subject before a few years ago. Remember the Oscars? #OscarsSoWhite? Now that’s beginning to change. That’s great, but there is so much more to do. I’m not going to talk long about it. I’m just touching base because with the slow rise of ethnic diversity. With success of Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians, I’m at least taking notice, well Hollywood is beginning to take notice.
