Topographies – Group Photography Exhibition

The Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, Kansas seeks entries for a juried photography exhibition, September 29 – October 13, 2017. Juror: Linda Robinson, Gallery Director, MWCP. Topographies explores the notion of place and one’s connection to a particular environment. The photographic works presented in this exhibition can range from a detailed exploration of a particular location to a visual documentation of one’s personal interaction with their surroundings. The act of observing exterior or interior space through capturing the visual qualities of a location portrays a sense of visual mapping. As topographies encompass many different ways of describing and documenting location, from the physical landscape of a terrain to the in-depth history related to a geographic region, the works presented in this exhibition will represent what it means to examine topographically with the medium of photography. Open to all photographers in the USA, all photo media is welcome. Selection will be based upon the series of work submitted by each artist. A brief artist statement is optional. International Deadline: June 11, 2017 – Western Bureau Arts Silicon Valley is accepting entries for its upcoming group exhibition, Sunspots 17: Ode to Summer, to be held July 10-31 at the Western Bureau Gallery in downtown San Jose, California.

The theme of the exhibition is summertime and the memories, emotions, sights, and scenery that our warmest season evokes. All styles and mediums will be considered, including representational, abstract, and conceptual works.

Selected pieces will be exhibited alongside works from the Western Bureau’s Permanent Collection, including mid-century paintings by Erle Loran, Chris Ritter, James McCray, Victor di Gesu, Harold C. Davies, and others.

This call for art is open to living artists worldwide, both professional and amateur. All mediums accepted.

Public Art Design Competition

International Deadline: June 16, 2017LCOR Incorporated, One Penn Plaza, Suite 1801, New York, NY 10119, is issuing this Request for Proposal to artists for a design of an original artwork to be installed on the façade of the The Orange Road Deck, located in Montclair, NJ, a building that is completed and functional.

This RFP, along with the Deck drawings contains the information necessary to prepare and file a proposal for this project.

The Deck is located on Orange Road between Church and Bloomfield Avenue in the Central Business District. The Orange Road Parking Deck functions as a Permit Parking Lot as well as a Municipal Parking Lot. The Deck is owned and operated by LCOR.

The Deck is a steel structure with concrete in a light buff shade, stucco panels and accented with thin-set brick façade sections in a School House Red Brick color with variations created by a “flashing” or heat process. It is a five-level structure providing parking on each level.

The site for the artwork is Two vertical niches measuring 6 feet x 25 feet (approximately 300 square feet) on the front of the façade.

NOTE: There will be a decorative grill installation at the base of the Deck. The proposed design work should complement the grill. Creativity will be appreciated.

The project requires the services of a qualified artist or artists to provide design only.

LCOR will have the winning design (“Design”) fabricated in laser cut aluminum and installed on the façade. All costs for such fabrication and installation will be borne by LCOR.

This RFP has been posted on Public Art websites and directed to artists with expertise on large-scale public art projects.

The Art Selection Panel (“Panel”) consists of representatives from LCOR, Montclair arts professionals and community representatives having public art and/or arts-related expertise. The Panel will select the winning proposal based on the art selection criteria provided in this RFP and artistic quality and experience in past public artworks. The Panel may choose to investigate new or additional artists until appropriate proposal(s) for artwork are received and approved. LCOR, however, retains the right in its sole discretion to accept or reject any proposal or recommendation from the Panel.

The winning artist will receive a design fee of $2,500. Such fee shall include the copyright to the Design.

Any information or understandings verbal or written, which are not contained either in the RFP or in subsequently written addenda to the RFP, will not be considered in evaluating proposals. As part of the process leading to the selection of the winner, LCOR may request additions or clarifications to the proposal.

U.S. National Deadline: June 7, 2017 – Hillyer Art Space announces ‘Create/Change’, an all-media, juried exhibition that will feature work that examines the idea of artist/s as citizens. Artists who, through their work, reimagine the traditional notions of art-making, and who contribute to society either through the transformative power of their artistic abilities, or through proactive social engagement with the arts, advancing equity, empathy, sustainability, and social justice through art and culture.

This exhibition is open to all artists living and working in the United States. Artwork must have been made within the last five years.

Work should be less than 15 feet overall (height + width + length), with no one dimension measuring more than 7 feet. Final measurements must be inclusive of frame, if applicable. Weight may not exceed 75 pounds. All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work and must have been created within the last 5 years.

All work selected must be ready for exhibit: 2D work must be framed with secure hanging devices; 3D work must be suitably prepared with instructions for installation.

Mary Early is the director of HEMPHILL Fine Arts, a Washington, DC gallery founded in 1993.  “HEAVY METAL”  — The Berkeley Arts Council in Martinsburg, WV announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, August 31-October 1, 2016. Projected prizes $600. Juror: Michael Doig. “Heavy Metal” is a juried exhibit of railroad Art that is open nationally to all visual artists over the age of 18 in all media. We seek to present an exhibit of artworks in a wide range of media and techniques that celebrates the diverse rail heritage in the United States. NEWS 15TH BIENNIAL NORTH AMERICAN OPEN SHOW  — The New England Watercolor Society seeks entries for a juried exhibition, September 25 – October 29 2016 at the North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, MA. Over $7,000 in awards. Juror: Mary Whyte. Open to any artist residing in North America, age 18 or older. Complete guideline and regulations are available in the online prospectus. Entry fee: $20 to $40 depending on membership status and number of paintings. Deadline: July 19, 2016.


2016 PORTRAITS ART EXHIBITION  — Artist Portfolio Magazine is seeking entries for its 2016 Portraits Art Exhibition. Open to all artists worldwide regardless of your standing in the art world. We receive entries from artists who are just starting out (we’ve even featured some on our past covers) to artists who make a living in the art world. All visual art mediums are acceptable. Awards: 1st $500 plus cover, 2nd $250 plus 4 page spread, 3rd $100 plus 4 page spread, 20 Honorable Mentions featured in Artist Portfolio Magazine. $25 entry fee. Deadline: July 20, 2016.
