Photo-Based Solo Exhibitions

Manifest in Cincinnati, OH is eager to receive proposals for solo exhibitions of various types of photo-based visual art for this season-launching exhibition. We will review them starting in mid-April in consideration for the September 28 – October 26, 2018 exhibition period. No notifications are made until the final selection is decided (anticipated by June 1st). Our goal is to select from one to three solo exhibitions for this timeframe. These will be concurrent with two competitive FotoFocus- sponsored group exhibitions at Manifest. We are requesting only solo exhibition proposals for this Photo-based exhibition opportunity. 52nd Annual Lewiston Art Festival

Lewiston Council on the Arts seeks artists for a juried art and fine craft competition and show on August 11 & 12, 2018 on Center Street in Lewiston, NY. $5,000 in awards. Over 20,000 people will attend this much anticipated outdoor festival, which attracts art lovers from Western New York and Southern Ontario, as well as international visitors from Niagara Falls, 10 minutes away. The festival is Lewiston’s signature event and features work by 175 exceptional artists and fine crafters. Categories include Painting; Graphic Arts (Drawing, Printmaking, T-Shirts, Computer Generated Art); Mixed Media; Photography; Pottery/Ceramics/Glass; Fiber; Jewelry; Sculpture; and Wood. Richard McDermott Miller Modeling Competition

The National Sculpture Society announces a call to sculptors for an upcoming competition. There are 3 cash awards totaling $5,250. Sculptors must have been born between 1982-1997. All applicants must be citizens of or residents in the United States with a social security number. Objective: To successfully model a bust from life (from the neck up), working from a live model. Modeling will be done in front of an audience. The Competition is part of NSS’ Sculpture Celebration Conference and will take place on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. Artists are invited to enter the 2018 Gloucester Arts Festival Juried Show, held June 1-30, 2018 at Arts on Main, in Gloucester, Virginia. More than $5000 in total prizes and featured show. Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA announces a call to artists for a group exhibition, May 3-31, 2018. This exhibition will compare and contrast the styles of impressionism and realism. The pieces chosen will showcase the traditional aspects and beauty of both movements. There are no restrictions on content, medium or context, but your entries should fit within this theme. Tiny But Mighty: A National Exhibition of Small 3D Artworks

The d’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, May 3rd – June 9th, 2018. 1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $300, 3rd Place: $150. Juror: John Roth. This exhibition is open to all artists, 18 or older, residing in the United States. All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. Work for this exhibition is limited to three-dimensional work only. Work must not exceed eight inches in its longest dimensions. 2018 CDS Documentary Essay Prize in Photography

This $3,000 prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University honors the best documentary writing and photography in alternating years. The focus is on current or recently completed work (within the last two years). This year’s prize is for photography. Please provide context for the photographic essay you are submitting, including the duration of your project and whether it is completed or ongoing. Describe your intentions for the work. Also, if some of your images have been published together in essay form, please include information about where and when they appeared and how the essay as submitted for the competition is different (or not). The Photographic Performance 2018

A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas invites photographers to submit compelling solo or cooperative exhibitions. Three exhibition proposals will be selected to be exhibited in the Salon from either April 20 to May 20, May 25 to June 24, or June 29 to July 29. Jurors: Amanda Smith and Kevin Tully, gallery directors. Submissions can be photographic images, photography combined with mixed media or photographic installations.
