Art-Scene: Larac Fall Arts Festival & Montage

September 9, 2015

Morning everyone! I’ve mentioned this in the Editor’s Desk post and now I found information about this arts festival being held at Glen Falls, New York and an online art exhibition.

LARAC invites artists/artisans to apply for booth space in their annual juried Falls Arts Festival, October 31st, 10am-5pm and November 1st, 10am-4pm at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, NY.

All work must be of original design handcrafted by the artist; reproductions of original work must involve direct handwork or direct supervision by the artist. Embellished items, objects made from commercial kits and imported or manufactured goods are not eligible. Each Fall Festival exhibitor is carefully selected to create an enchanting mix of returning favorites and exciting new artisans.

The Festival includes live music, food concessions, and Halloween themed activities for the kids. Jury Fee: $20; Booth Fees: $230-$435. Deadline: September 30, 2015. Visit website for prospectus. Questions? Please contact Phil Casabona at or call 518-798-1144 ext.2.

MONTAGE  — Linus Galleries announces a call to artists for an online art exhibition. Sometimes the process of making art is more intuitive or experimental, as opposed to a strict adherence to traditional artistic practice/technique.

We want to see mixed media, collage work or any art that combines various mediums and/or produced unconventionally! Calls are open to all professional and amateur artists. All art mediums considered. $35 for 3 entries, $5 for additional entries. Visit website for prospectus. Deadline: September 30, 2015. Questions? Please contact Linus Galleries at or call 310-491-0269.

There will be more where that came from, so please be on the look out! Now for some Lit-Scene…..

Volume 2 / Number 9

Shadowbox has returned…..Goodbye summer, hello fall! Seriously this year is going fast!

First off, the Crimson Peak Fan Contest arrived in August and will continue until October 2. I’m checking my email regularly for entries and I may need to tweak the contest some. The contest trivia questions are already beginning as well. I just wanted add a bit of fun!

Lots of things are beginning in the month of September as well like the 2016 AWP Award Series Guidelines, the annual competition for publication of new book-length works. If there are any poetry lovers, you’re in for a treat. I’m also on the look out for any upcoming writing conferences.

The Flux Exhibit will be in full swing at the end of the month, Larac Fall Arts Festival and the Sugarloaf Craft Festival will be coming soon. The late Salvador Dali is this month’s Spotlight Artist and we also get to see the museum dedicated to his works in St. Petersburg Florida for @ the Museum.

I’m also gathering searches for independent films. There is the Toronto International Film Festival or TIFF is coming September 10 – 20, 2015. This is the time to expect some great films and I’m getting ready to see one in particular that you may have heard about, The Midnight Swim. Let’s not forget about music! Shadowbox is gearing to bring that to the mix too.

Lots of great stuff to look forward to….all into one month! Fall will be here too and I’m ready for it.
