Creative Close-Up: The Return of the Drive-In Theater

5.26.2020 A drive-in theater or drive-in cinema is a form of cinema structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand, and a large parking area for automobiles. Within this enclosed area, customers can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars. Wikipedia The drive-in is making a comeback…all thanks to COVID-19. We love to watch Netflix and chill, but let’s face it, we want to get out and watch a movie and the drive-in movie theater is the best way to do it. Since the virus outbreak a couple of months ago, all activity stopped completely, even movie theaters. There hasn’t been a box office report in the past few months. We do have newly released films coming to our homes.  Honestly, after being stuck in our homes, people want to just get out and do something. According to a report from CNN‘s Chauncey Alcorn, in recent weeks, outdoor cinemas are popping up all over the country. From the same report below… Local small business owners who have been forced to shut down operations to comply with Covid-19-related social …

More MidWk Update: The Snyder Cut is Coming!

5.21.2020 Good Morning! I just couldn’t keep this to myself…we are finally getting the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Yes, you read it right, we are getting the Justice League that should’ve been released in 2017. You’re probably thinking…What took so long? As you can remember, Zack Snyder, who directed the film, had to leave the project due to family tragedy, so Joss Wheadon took over. Great idea, but it wasn’t enough. The film debuted in November 2017 to a sluggish box office. Then Henry Cavill‘s hideous upper lip fiasco, and other stuff we don’t want to remember. The good news is that the film will be coming to HBO MAX in 2021. I’ve read this from The Hollywood Reporter. Here is a small paragraph from the article.  “HBO Max will debut the project in 2021 — possibly in a four-hour director’s cut or in six TV-style “chapters” — as the helmer gets the gang back together with the original postproduction crew to score, cut and finish visual effects.” To read the rest of the …

MidWk Update: TV & Theater updates…

5.20.2020 Hello again…Hope everyone is doing alright. We are diving into tv and I’m just catching up. Ruby Rose has exit the CW’s Batwoman…I haven’t watched the show nor do I care about it, but this is a surprise. I was wondering how Mr. H Reviews thinks and his response is priceless… That, in my opinion, was the only thing going on with television, now let’s get on with theater. National Live Theater has another great play coming tomorrow on their YouTube channel, this time with Vic Young’s A Streetcar Named Desire with Gillian Anderson. Take a look at this clip… This might be up my alley! You can watch it tomorrow at 2:00pm on their YouTube channel. Put that on your To-D0 List. Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday, be safe, be healthy, be blessed. Image source: Wallpaper Access

Wknd Updates: Comic-Con@Home 2020

5.17.2020 Hello and Good Afternoon! I’ve decided to extend the Weekend Updates to Sunday. Just a few things to share with you people. I hope everyone is taking precautions during this challenging time.  I just read an article from The Hollywood Reporter that Comic-Con International is going virtual. According to David Glanzer, we will have Comic-Con@Home 2020. Yes, boys and girls, Comic-Con is coming to us. The annual event was canceled due to the virus, but the organizers are working behind the scenes to bring it to the comfort of your home. “We are still in the nuts-and-bolts planning phase,” explains Comic-Con International’s David Glanzer. Take a look at this teaser via their YouTube account…   People still want to have that Comic-Con experience in the flesh, so let’s not think this will be the new normal. As Glanzer puts it, he doesn’t think they’ve really thought of it in terms of a replacement for the show. “It is an iteration that we hope will convey some of the excitement of Comic-Con in whatever format …
