This is the perfect opportunity to discover the encaustic monotype process which is easy and lots of fun. We will cover the equipment, tools, safety, and the color sticks application etc. On Day 2 and 3, the focus will be on abstraction and constraint. A constraint sounds like something negative to one’s imagination, but in fact, it is the opposite, it is a spur to creativity. We will demonstrate how by embracing constraint, and the unknown we open-up to the many surprises and possibilities, to creativity that will speaks of your artistic intention. This three-day workshop covers the basic CWM materials, tools, and painting techniques as well as conceptual abstract painting. We will look at forms, shapes, texture, layering, contrast, and composition. Also, different mark making, starting points as well as intuition and intention. On Day 2 and 3, the focus will be on non-objective painting, but with a different twist. The painting approach will be to express space, color, light and design, to imaginative realms that are idealistic and spiritual.
