Our program offers creative time and space to write, along with opportunities to enjoy a community with fellow writers. Our retreat is held at a historic house (and former bed and breakfast), which offers beautiful spaces to write and to gather together, along with spacious accommodations. Writers will enjoy simple community meals sourced from local farms and markets, quiet time to engage with their own work, evening readings, workshops on mindfulness and creativity, and optional guided writing sessions. Our retreat is located in a scenic rural corner of northeast Connecticut, in an area known for its hiking trails and natural beauty, and its vibrant arts community and antique centers. Create a written legacy of your life, for yourself and for your future generations, using effective and fun journaling techniques.

Have you always wanted to document your life stories for future generations, but have never gotten around to it, or known where to begin? Perhaps you have started, but have started, but are stuck or overwhelmed. Maybe you want to pen your stories just for yourself, without any intention of sharing. If any of these scenarios ring true, this retreat is for you.

During our time together, you will examine your past and construct written vignettes or “captured moments” of your life. You will look for themes in your life, as well as your values and beliefs, as a way to organize your work. The main focus of this retreat is to provide practical and creative ways to help you write, through effective journaling techniques. There will be plenty of hands-on writing time so that at the end of this retreat, you will have a collection of completed stories and the know-how to continue your legacy writing.

Each participant will also receive a hand-crafted leather journal, made by Brenda!
