The Humanity Photo Awards 2017

The Humanity Photo Awards (HPA) is a biennial photography contest focusing on folklore cultures, including portrait & costume, architecture, living custom, production & commerce, festivities and traditional rites. It was founded in 1998 by the China Folklore Photographic Association and was blessed with UNESCO’s support since its 2nd session in 2000. Transport allowances will be provided to more than 66 prize-winning photographers so they can attend the Award Ceremony in China, and related events that last for 3 to 6 days. 6 Grand Award winners will also receive cash prizes of US$2,000. Open to all photographers. HPA 2017 is a photo contest that devotes itself to documenting, sharing and celebrating the diversity of cultures in the world. HPA 2017 only accepts photo stories/portfolios; each entrant can submit 3 sets of photos at most; each set should consist of 8-14 photos. Free to enter. Deadline: April 15, 2017. More info. The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado seeks entries for a juried photography exhibition, October 6 – November 11, 2017. Juror’s Award: $400, Director’s Award: $200, Honorable Mention Awards: 1-Year Membership and submission to a Call For Entry. Juror: Christy Havranek, Photo Director at the Huffington Post. Open to all photographers worldwide, both amateur and professional. The Center invites photographers working in all mediums, styles, and schools of thought to participate. Manifest seeks submissions for the International Photography Annual 6 (INPHA 6), an award-winning juried publication of contemporary photography & photo-based art with a $1,200 first place award. The book project is open to any artist submitting original works of art that incorporate the lens or photographic process created within 2014 – 2017. Art Festival of Henderson

The City of Henderson announces a call to artists for its annual art festival, May 13 & 14, 2017 at Events Plaza, Water Street in Henderson, Nevada. Eligible media: ceramics, metalwork, drawing/pastels, sculpture, leather, mixed media, glass, photography, jewelry (ornamental/costume and precious metals), fiber/textiles/batik, painting (oil/acrylic and watercolor), graphics/printmaking, wood, fiber (wearables). $25 application fee. Call For Entries – Pennsylvania Watercolor Society 38th Juried Exhibition

The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society announces a call to artists for their annual juried exhibition, September 11 – October 28, 2017, at the Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. $14,000 in awards. Jurors: Selection – Jeanne Dobie, Awards – Marjorie Glick. Open to all artists 18 and over working with water media on paper. Only original work never was shown in any previous juried show or a PWS exhibition. No prints, copies, class work, or digital work allowed. No diptychs or triptychs. Artists may enter 1 or 2 images, but only 1 may be selected. Maximum outside frame size is 40″. Minimum image size is 8″ x 10″. Prospectus available on the website or by email. Biggs Picture Juried Landscape Competition

Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, DE seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, June 2 – July 23, 2017. One work will be selected as Best-in-Show for a $1,500 purchase prize to be added to the Biggs Museum collection. Juror: Jason Rosenfeld. This exhibition will present artworks from all media; such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, craft, and video. Each work must fit within at least one of these sub-themes: Perceived Landscape – interpretations of actual spaces at particular times; Imagined Landscapes – interpretations of spaces from the past, memory, make-believe, and/or the future; Landscapes of the Mind – interpreting psychological states of being through creations of space. The competition is open to all artists, both amateur and professional of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. $35 entry fee. Deadline: April 15, 2017. More info (PDF). The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, June 2 – July 31, 2017, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Best of Show $500, Second $300, Third $200. Juror: Wendy Martin. Open to all artists 18 years and older currently residing in the United States. Entries must be original, not previously exhibited at the Arts Council, or in any Arts Council sponsored Juried Exhibit. Maximum size 50″w x 72″h including a frame for wall art. Maximum weight: 95 lbs. 2D Works must be framed or gallery wrapped canvas/panel and wired for installation. No sawtooth hangers. There is some flexibility for fiber & non-traditional works, please call with any questions. 3D pieces must fit through a doorway, including frame/stand. The Juror reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented, or that varies from submitted image. $30 for up to three works (Arts Council Members pay $25) and $5 for each additional entry. Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery announces a call to artists for an online art exhibition, April 20 – May 20, 2017. Best of show – Cash Award & gift certificate, Cash Award for 1-3 place. Juror: Caryl Morgan. Must be 18 years or older and work must be original art, no reproduction prints. Call for Artists: 6x6x2017

The Rochester Contemporary Art Center in Rochester, NY seeks entries for RoCo6x6x2017, an international small art phenomenon now in its tenth year! Help us once again to build an incredible exhibition of thousands of artworks made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, children, and you! Each artwork must be 6 by 6 inches (15 by 15 centimeters) or mounted to a 6-by-6 inch board. All artworks are displayed anonymously, so they should be signed only on the back. All entries will be accepted and exhibited both in the gallery and online until July 16, 2017, and will be on sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase, and sold-out artists’ names will be revealed next to their works online July 7.
