Reflections: Don’t Give Up On Your Creativity

October 29 / 16 Morning! The end of October is already here and it’s time to reflect. I have a piece of wisdom to pass along to you. It’s not long, but you’ll feel inspired by it. For those of you who are traditional artists, musicians, filmmakers, graphic artists, writers, all forms of creativity, this is a subject I’m sure you have come across. We are creative types who follow to our own set of beats. We love to come up with ideas, we have visions, our ideas may not go along with regular folk, but that’s what makes us unique. Once the vision is set and place, all the i’s have been dotted and the t’s crossed, our vision is complete. We get the accolades, the congrats for the work we do, but there comes a time when we get ourselves in a rut. I call it Creator’s Block. This is when we plateau and have come across a fork in the road. We don’t know where to go or what to do next …

This Week’s Favorite Scary Movie: Halloween

October 30 / 16 Hello, the last Sunday and yes, Halloween is this week’s scary film. “To make Michael Myers frightening, I had him walk like a man, not a monster.”  – John Carpenter, director I don’t have to go into detail about this movie. With Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence, this 38 yr-old film has become and is still a slasher classic.     On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith’s Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.         The theme music that made the movie a cult classic……….   Hope you enjoyed all the week’s fav scary films. Tomorrow will be busy: Shadowbox’s 20 Scariest Films, Reflections, and Editor’s Desk! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, be blessed.   …

This Week’s Favorite Scary Movie: Poltergeist

October 23 / 16 Afternoon folks! Has your weekend a great one so far? This week we got Poltergeist. This classic ghost tale is one my favorites and I’m sure it’s yours too. Directed by Tobe Hooper, produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg, the film stars Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O’Rourke, and Zelda Rubinstein.   Strange and creepy happenings beset an average California family, the Freelings — Steve, Diane, teenaged Dana, eight-year-old Robbie, and five-year-old Carol Ann — when ghosts commune with them through the television set. Initially friendly and playful, the spirits turn unexpectedly menacing, and, when Carol Ann goes missing, Steve and Diane turn to a parapsychologist and eventually an exorcist for help.   “TV people?”      Best scene from this film……   Love this film as a kid, love it even more so today. Like I said, your classic scary film. Monday October 31, Shadowbox will have its 20 most scary films listed before you. Lots of things to share with you this week, so don’t forget to check …
