Morning all! I have just one thing to share with you today. The Columbus Museum, located in Columbus, Georgia is having their Summer Camps for this year and here’s what they’ll have in store…..

AGES 5 – 7

JUNE 13 – 17 / Art for Beginners / Teacher: Achevia Coleman

Let’s explore the arts! In this beginner’s camp, young artists will create work of art inspired by artists that they will discover in the Columbus Museum. Campers will use various methods and mediums to help them better understand the elements and principles of art. Your little artist will be introduced to a variety of techniques that will build their artistic skills and open the door to creativity.

JUNE 27 – JULY 1 / Passionate About Painting / Teacher: Meghan Lacey

Experience the joys of painting through the exploration of different mediums such as watercolor, tempera, and acrylic painting. Camper will learn about the methods and materials used by a variety of artists and explore many different styles of painting such as pointillism and impressionism as we create our own masterpieces.

JULY 11 – 15 / Art and Science / Teacher: Meghan Lacey

Discover the wonder of the scientific worlds through the arts. In this camp we will develop problem-solving skills and express personal creativity through projects. We will focus on subjects such as earth science, geology, and physics and will bring science to life through the artistic process. Campers will create sculptures, models, paintings, and more use materials like clay, wire, and paint.

AGES 8 – 10 / JUNE 20 -24 / Sports and Art / Teacher: Wynter Smith

Stuck between choosing a camp for sports or art? Do both! Join us as we get our hearts pumping and hand moving to create art inspired by sports. Students will discover how art has influenced the world of sports and how artists use sports in their artwork. The week will be filled with activities that let campers show both their artistic and athletic talent.

JULY 18 – 22 / Art And Science / Teacher: Wynter Smith

Experimenting is not just for science, it’s also a great way to create new and exciting artwork. During this camp, we will discover the links between science and art as we create hands-on projects. Campers will actively explore and experiment with a variety of materials and discover scientific process along the way.

AGES 11 – 13 / JULY 25 – 29 / Art and Nature / Teacher: Wynter Smith

Get inspired by the beauty of nature, discover how artists use nature to create their artwork, and create your own nature-inspired masterpiece during this camp. Explore the Museum’s galleries as well as the Olmstead Garden and experiment with art making techniques as we uncover the connection between art and nature.

FULL DAY CAMPS / MONDAY THRU FRIDAY / 9AM – 5PM*

Summer camps give your child the opportunity to learn about art through lessons in the studio, hands-on projects, and gallery walks. Each camp will culminate with an exhibition of the camper’s art.

*$145 member / $165 future members.

Early drop off is available at 8:30 am for additional charge of $25.

Each camper must bring own lunch.
