ART OF THE NORTHEAST (Posted: 5/3/16) — The Silvermine Arts Center seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, July 9 – August 20 in New Canaan, CT. Open to all artists, 17 years of age and older, residing in CT, DE, MA, MD (D.C.), ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI & VT. Art of the Northeast is a competition/exhibition highlighting the diversity of work that is currently being made in the Northeast by emerging and established artists. The Best in Show Prize is a solo exhibition at Silvermine Arts Center with a $3,000 stipend for show related expenses. To be considered for the Best in Show Prize, artists are required to enter a minimum of three works. Original artwork in any media will be accepted. Giclée reproductions of original works will not be accepted. Artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2014, and fall within the restrictions. $40 for up to 10 entries. IT’S LIQUID EXPERIMENTAL ART ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FESTIVAL | ROME (Posted: 5/3/16) — It’s Liquid Experimental Art Architecture and Design Festival | Rome, curated by Arch. Luca Curci (director of It’s LIQUID and International ArtExpo), will be hosted June 18 – July 21, 2016 at Bahcesehir University (BAU) – IAR International Academy of Rome. Artists, filmmakers, video makers, associate groups and studios, performers, architects and designers are invited to submit their works of video art, performance art, installation/sculpture and their architectural and design projects. Kristy Kutch Colored Pencil Workshops
Kristy Kutch has been creating colored pencil art for almost thirty years and has been teaching colored pencil workshops since 1991. A teacher with a life license, she applies many basic learning principles to her workshops, enthusiastically meeting each student at the appropriate level. Beginners are always welcome, but even advanced artists benefit from Kristy’s instruction. Offering demonstrations of techniques and the characteristics of different types of colored pencils, papers, and other related materials, Kristy covers a wide range of possibilities. Her techniques book, Drawing and Painting with Colored Pencil (Watson-Guptill Publications), was released in 2005. Her new book, The New Colored Pencil, is a May, 2014 Watson-Guptill release. She is also the feature artist in the Artist Palette Productions DVD “Colored Pencil Landscapes: Beyond The Basics”.
