Creative Spotlight: Elizabeth Debicki

Creative Spotlight: Elizabeth Debicki

March 14 / 16

Hey, how was everyone’s weekend? As you know, Shadowbox has focused on artists, writers, and musicians, well how about actors? I’m not focusing on just an A-List actor either. Today’s spotlight goes to actress Elizabeth Debicki. The first thing you notice about her is her height. At either 6’2 or 6’3, Debicki is acting force to be reckoned with.

This Amazonian film and stage actress has been in the buzz for the last few years. She made her film début in 2011’s A Few Best Men. Baz Luhrmann casted her as Jordan Baker in 2013’s The Great Gatsby (very good job I might add), along side Leonardo DiCaprio and Toby Maguire. In 2015 she was Lady Macduff in Macbeth with Michael Fassbender. Other films followed, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Everest.

Debicki stage credits include the Melbourne Theater Company’s production of The Gift and in 2013, she played Madame in the Sydney Theater Company’s Jean Genet’s play, The Maids with Cate Blanchett and Isabelle Huppert.

She has also graced the small screen in Rake, The Kettering Incident and you can now see her in BBC One’s The Night Manager, with Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. For us American audiences, we’ll see it on April 19 on AMC.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday and be blessed!
