Shadowbox Film Feature: High Rise

January 13 / 16

Hello….again….I’m sure you have heard about this film High Rise. The second trailer was released sometime last week. High Rise is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by J.G. Ballard. Directed by Ben Wheatley, the film stars Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Sierra Miller, Elisabeth Moss, and Jeremy Irons. What is the film about? Well read on…..

London, 1975. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) is a young doctor seduced by the lifestyle in a high-rise, an isolated community, cut off from the rest of society in their luxury tower block, and its creator, the architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons). Taking up residence on the twenty-fifth floor, Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Sienna Miller). After Laing befriends Richard Wilder (Luke Evans), a documentary filmmaker relegated to the second floor who is determined to provoke the class injustices inherent in the high-rise, a dangerous social situation develops and the high-rise eventually fragments into violent tribes.

The first trailer came out last month. The second came out just recently.

The film will be released in the UK on March 18, 2016. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015, the 63rd Sebastian Film Festival, and the London Film Festival in October. I did read that Magnet Releasing acquired US distribution rights to the film, unfortunately there has been no word on when it will reach the US.

Now seriously, enjoy the rest of your Wednesday…be blessed ok?
