Editor’s Desk February 2015

February 1, 2015

Volume 3 / Number 2

Hello, Shadowbox has returned! January has left us and we are now into February and this month is Black History Month, so as always, Shadowbox is celebrating not only with painting, illustrations, but also with writing, poetry, performance….all art.

This year I’m mixing it up! Every Saturday of this month, Shadowbox will feature poetry, maybe short stories from African-American writers, poets, and of course artists. We are off to Philadelphia to see the first institution built by a major United States city to house and interpret the life and work of African-Americans, The African American Museum in Philadelphia.

I will find workshops, art competitions, and contests for you guys to participate. I almost couldn’t figure out what to write for this month’s Art Close-Up, but this is what I came up with: Fighting Oppression & Racism Through Art.

Of course February 14 is Valentine’s Day, so I will get some illustrations, poems, etc, etc.

And yes, again, it’s good to be back! For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to return to WordPress. Wix was not a good idea. Example, you wanted to try a new recipe, but it didn’t turn out well as you hoped it would be….that’s how I describe it. So it great to be here and now…

Let February begin!
