Good Morning and Happy Friday! It’s time to take a peek at the museum. Esquisses heads to Berlin, Germany. The city has good museums and galleries, but there is one that stands out. It’s the East Side Gallery.

Located near the center of Berlin on Mühlenstraße in Friedrichshain-KreuzbergBerlin Freidrichshain, this gallery is the longest open art gallery in the world at 1,316 meters. It was part of the border between East and West Berlin.

East Side consists of 105 paintings from artists all over the globe. It’s actually an international memorial for freedom. The gallery was established in 1990 by the merger of German artists associations, VBK and BBK.

The paintings that are seen on these walls express not only the times of change, but for a better future, of hope for all of us.

Over the years the gallery has experienced graffiti, vandalism, and erosion, but that didn’t stop folks from coming to see these far out portraits.

Here is a short video documentary about the renovation of the East Side Gallery by starsk13.

Whenever you visit Berlin, head over to the East Side Gallery and experience art outside the box!
