Good Morning! Want to give your art technique some polishing? New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture can help you with that.


As it states on their webpage:

The Summer Session offers a unique opportunity for interested artists who are not enrolled in any of the full-time programs to experience the intensity and rigor of the School’s perspective in a condensed manner.

The Summer Session is comprised of both two-week Marathons and longer atelier classes that focuses on specific concentrations in either drawing, painting, and sculpture. Students may choose to participate in the Marathon, with additional selections of other course offerings, or take the full seven-week path that includes both the Marathon and the Atelier classes. All classes run Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm unless otherwise noted.

The application deadline for the marathons courses: May 20, 2014

Marathon includes:

Drawing Marathon: Graham Nickson & Guest/June 2-13, 2014 Cost: $1625

Drawing Marathon: Highline with Linda Darling & Guest/June 2-6, 2014. Cost: $890

Portrait Drawing Marathon: Joe Santore & Guest/June 9-13, 2014. Cost: $890

Sculpture Marathon: Bruce Gagnier/June 2-13, 2014. Cost: $1625 Additional Materials fee: $200

Sculpture Marathon: Opening the Wall with Bill Tucker, Pam Avril, and Lee Tribe/June 16-27, 2014. Cost: $1625, additional material fee: $200

Arbor Vitae, Painting Marathon: Graham Nickson & Guest/June 16-27, 2014. Cost: $2075, additional activities fee: $250

Portrait Painting “Focus”: Joe Santore, Linda Darling, and guests/ June 16-27, 2014.

Why Paint the Figure? – with Elisa Jansen and guests/June 30 – July 18, 2014.

New York Studio School or NYSS offers partial scholarships for the summer program. These scholarships cover tuition only and are generally a quarter to half the total tuition cost. If you want to be considered for this, include in your application a 500 word (max) essay, outlining your financial need, along with how and why a scholarship to attend New York Studio School will benefit your development as an artist.
