FRIDAY!! I know a lot of you have waited for Friday to come…I have been waiting too. Esquisses heads to New York City to visit the infamous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This museum has been around for a very long time and to me it’s one of the most familiar places to visit in Manhattan. Founded by John Taylor Johnston on February 20, 1872, (142 years!) the Met has exhibited and collected art works from around the globe.
Here are some exhibitions that are being held at the Met.
CARPEAUX-THE PASSIONS OF JEAN-BAPTISTE/March 10 – May 26, 2014
INK ART: PAST AS PRESENT IN CONTEMPORARY CHINA/December 11, 2013
RADIANT LIGHT: STAINED GLASS FROM CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL AT THE CLOISTERS/February 25, 2013 – May 18, 2014
PIERO DELLA FRANCESCA PERSONAL ENCOUNTERS/January 14 – March 30, 2014
THE AMERICAN WEST IN BRONZE, 1850-1925/December 18, 2013 – April 13, 2014
82ND & FIFTH: 100 WORKS OF ART/100 CURATORS THEY INSPIRED
That’s not all, of course. There are many activities for everyone like workshops, concerts, artist residence programs, membership events and more.
The Met also hosts the annual Met Ball or Costume Institute Ball, which has featured fashion exhibitions since 1971.
You can also check out their blog to keep up with events, exhibitions, and performances. Let’s not forget the Met Store.
Visit their website at www.metmusuem.org for information about hours, admissions, events and so forth.
